Why explore chiropractic and natural healthcare?

As a general rule chiropractors prefer that individuals explore the least dangerous, least invasive, safest and most natural care first, before resorting to powerful and more dangerous drugs, radiation and surgery (except in emergency situations where life and limb are at stake).

Interventions such as medicine and surgery have a place – but today they are all over the place. Too many people are “medicalized,” swallowing synthetic, artificial chemicals that may alter and suppress their symptoms but do not cure. If drugs cured, after a while you should stop taking them. But look around, aren’t those taking drugs long-term the sickest? Drugs do not heal, they may alter body chemistry but there is no true healing.

And don’t forget all the thousands of people who die and are sickened from prescription drug side effects and adverse reactions.

As the taking of drugs continues, individuals often spiral into poorer health. That is because health is not something you get from artificial chemicals. Health is the result of your body functioning properly. Your body functions properly when it is properly aligned, free of adverse structural stresses; when it is fed nutrient dense foods and when it is free of artificial chemicals and toxins.

More and more people are taking that first step of getting off the drug merry-go-round and discovering natural health care.

Chiropractors, due to their license, do not prescribe drugs nor do they take people off of drugs – that is the role of the medical doctor. It is a good policy to discuss with MDs the full effects of the drugs they prescribe. Of course patients may learn for themselves about their drug side effects by using the internet.

Chiropractors favor freedom of choice in healthcare for all. Your health is your decision. My goal is to help you understand all of your options. Some patients only find us after years of suffering with seemingly no hope. My motto is "Try Chiropractic First."

Could Diet Soda Be Causing Obesity???

Scientists at Purdue University published an article in Behavioral Neuroscience in February of 2008 that found that products containing artificial sweeteners may lead to increased body weight and obesity by interfering with our bodies ability to balance it's taste for sweets. Our body has an uncanny ability to remain in balance/homeostasis. The research found that consumption of non-caloric sweeteners can alter brain responses that change the efficiency of how we utilize the energy we consume which can lead to significant long-term increases in food intake and body weight.

Our body has the natural ability to estimate the calories taken in by the sweetness of the food we eat. Artificial sweeteners create sweet foods that lack calories or energy for body use. As we take in more artificial sweeteners our brain loses the ability to calculate and regulate the amount of energy taken in, which then creates a loss of balance and we begin to take in more food, which results in weight gain and obesity.

Over the past 30 years we have definitely had a dramatic increase in both overweight or obese people and an increase in the consumption of products containing artificial sweeteners.

Our body is an incredible healing organism that has the ability to maintain incredible balance and vitality. We have developed technologically and chemically to the point where scientists have learned to trick the body and as such may be altering the critical balances of the human body.

Helping People with Chiropractic

As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I have been helping patients now for nearly 10 years. During that time I have stayed pretty quiet about the chiropractic successes that I have seen. Lives have changed through the use of chiropractic and the healing power of the body. I have helped patients with lifelong migraines and headaches, people with low back and neck pain, children with ear infections, bladder problems and breathing problems, and others who had jaw pain that made it tough to eat or pain that made it tough to sleep. I've seen lives change for the better and I've been reserved in my enthusiasm. I'm not sure if it's because some people think that chiropractic is still an unproven practice or because I just didn't want to cause any waves. Either way I am done keeping my mouth shout. I am ready to tell the world about the wonders of chiropractic and the potential for changes that occur in the lives of people if they just give chiropractic a chance. I can't cure everybody but I do know that the power of a chiropractic adjustment can help everyone. I plan on using this blog to share the successes that I see everyday in my office and the ever increasing amount of research that is helping us to understand more about the human body and the benefits of chiropractic.
